Dr. Marvin L. Morgan, a Certified Intentional Interim Minister (IIM), a Professional Transition Specialist (PTS) and Church Consultant, has earned three academic degrees in Philosophy and Religion at Elon, Duke and Drew Universities and completed post graduate studies at Auburn Seminary and Harvard University’s School of Education. For more than 52 years, he has served as a United Church of Christ pastor in NC, NY, and GA and interim pastor in GA, TN, IL, VA, AZ and MD. While a pastor, he also served as Director of Chaplaincy Services, Atlanta Police Dept.; Associate Chaplain, Fulton County Government; Adjunct Faculty/Administrator, and D. Min. Faculty at ITC, Atlanta, GA and as a Community Organizer with the UFCW Union’s Justice@Smithfield Labor Campaign in Tar Hill, NC. He began service as Interim Senior Pastor at Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, in Frederick, MD on January 1, 2024.
Dr. Morgan has served in several Association, Conference and National United Church of Christ positions, including several years at the national level of the church [the Executive Council for six years; the Common Global Ministries Board for four years; followed by two years as National Moderator for the UCC’s 27th General Synod. He is a current member of the Board of Trustees at Elon University, Atlantic College and Theological Seminary, Nassa, Bahama, and the Board of Directors, Urban Missiology Project at ITC.
Marvin is married to Mae T. Morgan, MD. They are the proud parents of 4 adult children, have 6 grandchildren.
