Mrs. Carolyn S. Saahir

Carolyn Saahir is the founding president of the Indianapolis chapter of the International League of Muslim Women. She served as president from 1994 to 2018 and recently began her second term in 2020. She has worked diligently with the Indianapolis Clara Mohammed Weekend School since 1981 in various capacities. She currently serves as Vice-Principal.

 

In 2003 Carolyn completed the Hajj; the sacred rites of the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, earning her the title of “Hajjah”.

 

Carolyn has been very active in interfaith. Numerous times she has visited the Vatican in Rome, Italy, with the international Catholic-based Focolare Movement to learn and partake in the “Universal Brotherhood” and interactions of Muslims and Christians from around the world.

 

She is the wife of Michael Saahir (since 1980) and she is the mother of four, 3 sons and one step-daughter and the grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of two.
